András Deák
was born in Budapest and studied piano and composition
at the Béla Bartók Vocational Secondary School for Music.
His studies continued at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music
under the tutelage of famous Hungarian and foreign
professors, including Franco Ferrara, Árpád Joó and Péter
Eötvös. He received his first diploma in choral conducting
in 1983 and the second in orchestral conducting in 1986.
From 1985 to
1991 Maestro Deák was music director of the Salgótarján
Symphony Orchestra, and he has been the principal conductor
of the Danube Symphony Orchestra since 1991. In 1995 he was
named one of Hungary’s best conductors in Hungarian
Television`s International Conductors Competition. He
regularly performs on television and radio and in 1995
recorded a CD with the Danube Symphony Orchestra. This past
season Maestro Deák conducted the world-renowned Vienna
Mozart Orchestra in Vienna’s Musikverein and the Vienna
State Opera. International tours and guest conducting
invitations have taken him to Finland, Slovakia, Germany
Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Israel, Canada, and the United
States. |
