Over a decade ago
in Eastern Transylvania's largest city, four
young Hungarian musicians joined forces to create the
Üsztürü Ensemble, with a common
goal to ensure the survival of traditional Hungarian music for
lifetimes to come. They have traveled the villages of their
homeland to study from the last great generation of authentic
village musicians, a dying breed whose art form can only be
carried into the future by "revival" bands such as
Üsztürü. The group has toured throughout
Europe and North America with astounding success, capturing the
world music scene's attention with its presentation of
Transylvania's dance-inducing virtuosi string music.
