Coal Mine Plant in Pécs Hungary
In the 90's the coal mines of Pécs, once an industrial center in Hungary,
were shut down.
Pécs was chosen to be a European Capital of Culture in 2010

New York-based, Israeli-born artist Shuli Sadé documents industrial ruins and architectural sites around the world. In 2002, during her first journey to Hungary, she documented the ruins of Csepel - an industrial island on the outskirts of Budapest - and the coal mines of Pécs, in Southern Hungary. At that time, she also became fascinated with photographing the Budapest Courtyards and is now turning these photos into an exhibit and a book.
